Dear Robinhood Hiring Team, Robinhood is doing something genuinely consequential: putting sophisticated financial tools in the hands of people who have historically been locked out of wealth-building. With an estimated $124 trillion set to transfer between generations over the next two decades, the infrastructure that sits beneath everyday banking and spending products will determine who participates in that shift and who doesn't. That mission connects directly to work I've done building AI-powered financial education and investing tools at Fintellect AI — a platform I founded specifically to close the gap between institutional-grade market analysis and the retail investor who has never had access to it. **Technical and Product Foundation** My product career spans 12+ years at the intersection of platform infrastructure and consumer-facing product, with a consistent pattern of taking complex technical systems and turning them into experiences developers and end users can actually rely on. At Intuit, I owned the developer frameworks and platform infrastructure layer powering QuickBooks, TurboTax, Mint, Mailchimp, and Credit Karma — a portfolio that reached 675M+ engagements in FY23. Scaling throughput from 6,000 to 50,000 transactions per second via an rSocket migration supporting approximately 1.5M concurrent connections with sub-25ms TP99 latency required the kind of cross-functional coordination — engineering, legal, compliance, finance, operations — that maps directly to what Robinhood's Money team navigates every day. On the AI side, I built Fintellect AI's RAG retrieval pipeline with ChromaDB, multi-provider LLM orchestration across Claude, GPT-4, and Gemini with fallback routing, and domain-specific conversational agents scoped to distinct financial focal points. I also built AI-powered charting and macroeconomic analysis tools for asset class selection, execution planning, and risk management. These aren't academic exercises — they're production systems I designed, shipped, and iterated on based on real trader feedback and App Store launch data. My research background adds another layer of rigor: a NeurIPS 2014 paper on neural networks for protein structure prediction, and more recently a full RL post-training workbench benchmarking GRPO, DPO, PPO, and nine other algorithms across TRL, VeRL, OpenRLHF, and NeMo RL frameworks — built to evaluate model behavior with statistical discipline (bootstrap confidence intervals, Welch's t-test, Cohen's d effect size). **Why This Role** Robinhood's Money team is building core banking infrastructure — the kind of foundational platform work where decisions made today constrain or enable product surface area for years. That's the layer I find most interesting: not just shipping a feature, but defining the systems and capabilities that make a category of future products possible. Having done that at Intuit's scale, and having built fintech products from zero to launch as a founder, I'm positioned to contribute from both directions — platform thinking and customer-facing product instinct. **What excites me specifically** is the opportunity to shape banking and spending products for a customer base that is younger, more mobile-native, and more underserved by traditional financial institutions than any prior generation. The wealth transfer dynamic Robinhood is positioning around isn't a marketing angle — it's a structural shift that requires genuinely new product foundations, not incremental improvements to legacy banking UX. I want to be in the room where those foundations get defined. **Selected Relevant Experience** - **Intuit — ICE Self-Service Platform:** Delivered DevPortal, GitOps config, and ICE Playground, reducing developer onboarding from 2–3 weeks to minutes in pre-prod and under 24 hours for production, while mitigating $1M+ in projected opex growth — a direct example of defining success metrics, driving execution, and iterating to measurable outcomes. - **Intuit — Platform Scaling:** Achieved 275% YoY growth in ICE engagements, scaling to 675M+ in FY23; rSocket migration from 6K to 50K TPS supporting ~1.5M concurrent connections at sub-25ms TP99 — cross-functional execution at consumer scale. - **Intuit — ICE Presence in Async Chat:** Implemented feature generating $480K/month in additional invoicing; deployed Background-to-Foreground Messaging on iOS/Android with sub-100ms latency — shipping consumer-facing product with measurable business impact. - **Fintellect AI — Fintech Platform (Founder):** Built mobile-first AI financial education and investing platform with RAG pipeline, multi-provider LLM orchestration, domain-specific conversational agents, and AI-powered charting tools; led customer discovery, go-to-market, and App Store launch. - **Splunk — Search Orchestration:** Owned Search Service (Go microservices) and SPL/SPL2; delivered Scheduler Service end-to-end in approximately four months, enabling scheduled search for first-party applications; led query performance optimization achieving up to 10x improvements for a Fortune 500 beta customer. - **Splunk — Prioritization Framework:** Designed repeatable RICE-based prioritization framework for three microservice backlogs, balancing internal partner, third-party developer, and Fortune 500 customer requirements — the same stakeholder complexity present in banking product development. - **Kaiser Permanente — Enterprise Platform:** Led development and rollout of Splunk Logging-as-a-Service at 1.7 TB daily volume across 200+ internal enterprise customers; built Redis/XC10 caching capability addressing scalability, fault tolerance, and data redundancy at enterprise scale. **Closing** Robinhood's mission to democratize finance isn't a tagline — it's a product constraint that shapes every prioritization decision, every compliance tradeoff, and every infrastructure investment. I've spent the last several years building at that intersection: platform infrastructure that has to work at scale, and financial products designed for people who deserve better tools than they've been given. I'd welcome the opportunity to bring that combination to the Money team. Thank you for your consideration. O. Felix Amoruwa famoruwa@berkeley.edu | 909-731-9011 | felixamoruwa.info
