Dear Chime Hiring Team, Chime has built something rare in fintech: a product that millions of everyday Americans genuinely trust with their financial lives. The mission — helping people achieve financial progress who have historically been underserved by traditional banking — is one I find both urgent and meaningful. My path from building a consumer AI financial education platform (Fintellect AI) to scaling developer infrastructure that touched 675M+ engagements at Intuit has consistently pointed toward the same question Chime is now asking: how do you translate rich behavioral data into personalized, proactive experiences that actually change how people relate to their money? **Technical and AI Foundation** My AI work spans from first principles to production systems. In 2004, I hand-coded a neural network in C++ with custom backpropagation through time for protein structure prediction — work that was accepted at NeurIPS 2014. In 2025–2026, I rebuilt that system in PyTorch across five architectures (feedforward, GRU, Transformer, ESM-2, multi-task), scaling from 413 to 8B parameters. More directly relevant to this role, I built Fintellect AI — a mobile-first AI financial education and investing platform — architecting a RAG retrieval pipeline with ChromaDB, multi-provider LLM orchestration across Claude, GPT-4, and Gemini with fallback routing, structured output validation, and token budget optimization. I also built domain-specific conversational agents scoped to distinct financial focal points, delivering context-aware advisory interactions to retail investors. These weren't research prototypes — they shipped to the App Store. At Intuit, I worked at the intersection of data and product to serve developers and end users across QuickBooks, TurboTax, Mint, Mailchimp, and Credit Karma. I used SQL and BigQuery to surface developer pain points across ~20 mobile apps and 30+ product SKUs, and I drove 275% YoY growth in ICE platform engagements, scaling to 675M+ in FY23. That experience taught me how to operate at scale while staying grounded in individual user needs — a balance this role demands. **Why This Role** The Chime opportunity sits at exactly the intersection I've been building toward: consumer-facing AI, financial context, and the 0→1 challenge of defining what a genuinely helpful AI experience looks like when you have deep member data — transaction history, spending patterns, goals — and the responsibility to use it in ways that build rather than erode trust. That last part matters to me. I've thought carefully about AI transparency and reliability in both my aeval evaluation platform (which includes adversarial safety testing, refusal detection, and automated safety gates) and in the design of Fintellect's agent interactions. **Role-Specific Connection** What excites me most about this role is the mandate to move AI from a standalone surface to something ambient and native across the entire Chime experience. That architectural vision — AI that feels integrated rather than bolted on — is precisely what I pursued with Fintellect's domain-scoped agents and what I built into StreamIO's OpenClaw multi-agent orchestration framework, which coordinates AI workflows across distinct contexts through a gateway protocol and subagent delegation model. I'm also drawn to the emphasis on defining success metrics and running experiments: at Intuit, I built RICE-based prioritization frameworks and used telemetry data to drive roadmap decisions, and my aeval platform was built specifically to bring statistical rigor (bootstrap confidence intervals, Welch's t-test, Cohen's d effect size) to AI model evaluation. **Selected Prior Experience** - **Fintellect AI (Founder):** Built mobile-first AI financial education platform with RAG retrieval pipeline, multi-provider LLM orchestration (Claude, GPT-4, Gemini) with fallback routing, and domain-specific conversational agents delivering context-aware financial advisory interactions; executed go-to-market through App Store launch. - **Intuit — ICE Platform:** Achieved 275% YoY growth in ICE engagements, scaling to 675M+ in FY23 across QuickBooks, TurboTax, Mint, Mailchimp, and Credit Karma; drove platform decisions using SQL/BigQuery telemetry across ~20 mobile apps and 30+ product SKUs. - **Intuit — ICE Self-Service:** Delivered ICE Self-Service platform (DevPortal, GitOps config, ICE Playground), reducing developer onboarding from 2–3 weeks to minutes in pre-prod and under 24 hours for production, while mitigating $1M+ in projected opex growth — a 0→1 platform build with measurable outcomes. - **StreamIO AI (Founder):** Built OpenClaw multi-agent orchestration framework with gateway protocol, subagent delegation, profile management, and session switching — enabling coordinated AI agent workflows across real estate, insurance, health/dental, and financial markets industries. - **aeval — AI Model Evaluation Platform:** Built local-first evaluation platform with adversarial safety testing, refusal detection, data contamination detection, and statistical rigor (bootstrap CIs, Welch's t-test, Cohen's d); CI/CD integration with regression detection and automated safety gates — directly applicable to ensuring AI features meet trust and transparency standards. - **Splunk — Search Orchestration:** Owned product roadmap and PRDs for Go microservices and PostgreSQL metadata services; led query performance optimization achieving up to 10x improvements for a Fortune 500 beta customer; designed repeatable RICE-based prioritization framework across three microservice backlogs. - **Intuit — ICE Presence in Async Chat:** Implemented feature generating $480K/month in additional invoicing; deployed Background-to-Foreground Messaging on iOS/Android with under 100ms latency — demonstrating ability to ship AI-adjacent consumer features with measurable business impact. **Closing** Chime's mission — ensuring that financial progress is accessible to everyone, not just those who already have advantages — is one I've oriented my own work around, from building Fintellect AI for retail investors to teaching data analytics and cloud computing at De Anza College. I'd welcome the opportunity to bring that same conviction, along with 12+ years of AI product and platform experience, to help Chime define what the next generation of member-facing AI looks like. Thank you for your consideration. **O. Felix Amoruwa** famoruwa@berkeley.edu | 909-731-9011 | felixamoruwa.info
